Entrepreneur Edgar Morales Garcia is open for strawberry business!
January 25, 2022
Senior Edgar Morales Garcia, President of the Spanish club, has become a young entrepreneur at the age of 17. Garcia began his strawberry business in 2019 that only started with strawberries but over time, expanded to other sweets.
Seeing that this was an easy way to make money, Garcia came up with the idea on his own that started with a dip. With the help of his family organizing the berries, he likes to get things done his way.
“I’m a perfectionist – well I try to be,” says Garcia. As his business began to boom, he started to combine roses and carnations to add to his luxury boxes making the arrangements look even more extravagant. He offers pickup or delivery services when an order is finished.
Garcia’s bestseller so far has been the classic milk chocolate-covered strawberries and more recently, the big one-hundred rose bouquets. He also sells different flower arrangements, strawberry cheesecake cups, Rice Krispies, strawberries with cream, fruit trays, chocolate-covered fruit, Oreos, and pretzels.
Additionally, he makes these delicious treats for baby showers, weddings, baptisms, and bachelor/bachelorette parties as well.
“Making chocolate-covered strawberries is pretty simple for the most part. I start off by gathering the chocolate I will be using for that particular order which can range from white, dark, or milk chocolate. Then, I use a special pot that keeps it warm and won’t burn the chocolate and begin to dip the strawberries,” says Garcia as he explains how he prepares the strawberries for an order.
Garcia can make a dozen chocolate-covered strawberries in just ten minutes without any detailing for a late notice order but likes to be notified at least two to three days before pick up or delivery.
For a classic set of strawberries, the price starts at $20. Once details, flowers, or different colors are added to the treats, the price increases and ranges from $30-$40.
Garcia delivers to predominantly nearby cities such as Whittier, Montebello, Downey, and Norwalk, however delivery is a surcharge of $1 per mile. “If a customer requests for an order to be delivered outside the surrounding cities, then I would charge a flat rate depending on the area and how far it is from my home,” says Garcia.
One can place an order with Garcia’s delectable business through his Facebook or Instagram page @leslys.strawberries.more. He is also in the process of creating a website for upcoming special events such as Valentine’s Day to make it more efficient for customers to order and pay.
Garcia’s message to anyone reading this is “Whoever orders from me and mentions this article will receive a $5 discount! Thank you and remember Dons! Once a Don, always a Don!”
