What’s the key to Key Club?

Key Club is a service organization that promotes volunteering and encourages members to help either locally, or internationally. It also happens to be one of the more popular clubs at El Rancho.

They host blood drives, food drives, and much more. Joining this club opens up numerous possibilities to earn volunteer hours and look good on college applications. Key Club helps students grow as people and can help others see from a new perspective. Many have not experienced what it is like to volunteer until joining this club.

The club meetings are at lunch every Wednesday in Q-2 with a small entrance fee of $12 (This is a one-time payment). These meetings are great since it doesn’t take up any time after school.

Another great thing about this club is the field trip included. Unlike many other clubs, joining Key Club gives the opportunity of going to Six Flags.

Club Advisor Mr. Sorenson, is proud of the club’s positive effect on its members. Sorenson said, “Benefits include the participation in KEY Club, making the world a better place by doing service to others.  KEY Club is also a place to meet people and make friends. Helping others makes KEY Clubbers feel good, too.”

As you can see, the benefits are endless and well worth the effort.

Club advisor Mr. Sorenson goes on to say, “Our first big event is the blood drive. We also participate in ‘Charity Miles.’” This is the start of the many great charity events that go on throughout the school year every year.

Junior Noel Gonzalez, a member of Key Club, revealed his reason to return for his second year. Gonzalez says, “I personally chose to join Key Club because I found it to be very helpful and highly rewarding.”

This club might be a great match for you if you are somebody that loves helping others or if you just want to get more involved with the school or community!
