Mrs. Metaxas’ Author Spotlight: Tiffany D. Jackson and Mackenzi Lee

February 21, 2023

Our school librarian Mrs. Metaxas is the keeper of the books and has recommendations for any type of reader.

This week, she recommends two phenomenal authors that are bound to keep you coming back for more–Tiffany D. Jackson and Mackenzi Lee.

Tiffany D. Jackson’s novel Monday’s Not Coming. The book covers topics of race and poverty.

If psychological thrillers tend to pique your interest, Tiffany D. Jackson’s books are sure to keep you completely enthralled.

Jackson is the author of award-winning novels like “Monday’s Not coming”, which explores issues surrounding poverty, race, mental illness, and abuse. “Be prepared to be haunted by these books–you won’t be able to put them down” says Mrs. Metaxas.

Tiffany D. Jackson’s new book, “White Smoke”, is a chilling psychological thriller about a family from California that moves into a newly renovated house in the midwest, but something about their wary neighbors and items that suddenly vanish gives the main character, Marigold, an unsettling feeling. Mrs. Metaxas says, “White Smoke”, is described as a cross between “The Haunting of Hill House” and “Get Out”. Coming Soon to our library!”

If you’re looking for a lighter read, Mrs. Metaxas recommends Mackenzi Lee’s Montague Siblings series.

“So far, I’ve only read Book 1: The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, and I absolutely loved it! It is set in Europe in the 1700s and is equal parts historical fiction, swashbuckling adventure, and LGBTQ+ romantic comedy. Add this book to your TBR (to be read) list and get ready for a wild and fun ride!” says Mrs. Mextas. Representation set in the past, a marriage between the present and past.

Lee’s New York Times bestselling and Stonewall Honor-winning novelThe Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue” has been described as “Witty, romantic, and intriguing at every turn.”

Mackenzi Lee’s series is known for its historical romance and LGBTQ representation.
