Review: Lana’s New Album

Lana Del Rey finally came out with a new album titled “Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd” which was long awaited since she hasn’t come out with an album since 2019, titled “Norman F***ing Rockwell!”. She originally announced her album to come out on March 10th, but later decided to release it on March 24th.

On December 7, 2022, Lana released the lead single “Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd”. Fans were ecstatic to get their first sneak peek of what her new album would be like. This song is meant to show the beauty in time passing by and how she feels forgotten in a way, wanting to experience a strong, passionate love.

On February 14, 2023, she released “A&W” which made fans even more excited since she was releasing such a bold song on a day meant to celebrate love and togetherness. Many fans loved this side of her in the past and were hoping to find much more of this in her album. This song stands for “American W**re” and is meant to represent Lana in some ways. It talks about her childhood and references certain things from pop culture. She continues to go on about her insecurities and how she feels like she is less important than others.

On March 14, 2023, the last early release “The Grants” was given to the public. In this song, she talks about her family and their worries, referring to her family name “Grant”. She talks about the beauty of having an impact on people’s lives and continues to talk about the importance of memories and loved ones.

Once her album was released, fans were quick to listen and many loved it. Many of her songs sounded sweet and soft, while other songs had the opposite effect. Some even argued that parts of the album were boring and that it is not what they hoped for. 

Many talk about her song “Fingertips” as it was very sad at times. Lana talks about her life, childhood, and difficulties while being very open and sincere. It almost feels like reading her diary as she talks so freely about her struggles and shows deeper meaning that she hasn’t expressed much before. 

“Paris, Texas” is also a song that deserves to be mentioned as it is one of the more popular in the album. It is very soft and feels so pure as she talks about moving on and self discovery. She embraces change and personal growth as she sings about needing to go on a new journey to fix her emotional state.

Overall, Lana’s new album is loved by many and much appreciated, even though some fans express disappointment. It feels so open and expressive in many ways and gained much publicity. It is even rumored that Lana may be going on tour this summer after not touring in a while. There is much promise in the future of Lana’s career and fans are excited to see what new things she creates.
