The end of an era: Celebrating Mr. Crone’s 33 years at El Rancho

The+end+of+an+era%3A+Celebrating+Mr.+Crone%E2%80%99s+33+years+at+El+Rancho

After 33 years of hard work and dedication to his students at El Rancho, beloved teacher John Crone will say farewell to the school this year.

Crone’s impact on the school will continue to leave a long-lasting legacy, as his impact on students throughout the school is substantial. “It’s sad to see a teacher that’s been here for so long. He’s always tried his best to help students, and overall he’s a great teacher,” says senior, Aileen Campos.

Crone’s achievements throughout the community have allowed El Rancho and its students to thrive, helping shape young minds while embracing creativity. Not only is he the regular and advanced level Computer Science and Digital imaging teacher, but also the editor of the school’s website The Don Page, who produced the yearbook for many years.

Crone has not only left an impact on El Rancho but the school has left an impact on him as well. “It’s been a huge part of my life for three decades, all of these were major efforts, I’ve been inspired by it; excited by it,” says Crone.

Reflecting on his career Crone reminisces on some of his fondest memories he reflected on working on the yearbook “I did the yearbook for 25 years so I’ve had lots and lots of yearbook staff, you know because its team of people its exciting, if fact three of them are graduating this year, my last yearbook staff, they’re leaving and I’m following them out the door,” says Crone.

As he prepares to bid farewell to the school Crone expresses his anticipation for the more leisurely time that awaits him. Some things that excite him are reading, working on his garden, and hiking. “It’s what I do now, except now I’ll have more time for it,” he says.

Overall Crone is enthusiastic about the new chapter in his life, as he amassed many years at the school, to him it just feels like the right time. “Well I assume this is how our seniors feel, I kind of have an idea of what’s coming but it is still a lot of unknown adventure, some of it I kinda know and some of it I’ll figure out when I get there.”

Preparing for his final days Crone leaves us one last piece of wisdom “High school is just the beginning of your education: you’re never too old to learn.”
