El Rancho High School held its annual college fair on Monday, September 16th, a beneficial event for the students who attend.
The college fair, specifically aimed at the Seniors, is where all of the students of El Rancho have the chance to ask college representatives questions about anything that has to do with college. A variety of schools, from community to private, came to give students insight on all the questions they had brewing in their minds.
Peer Advisor Analecsy Felix-Torres says, “The benefit of attending the college fair is expanding your knowledge on different colleges that you could possibly apply to.”
The college fair, hosted by the college and career center, is one of the most beneficial events hosted by the school. One of these benefits is that students gained the chance to explore many colleges to see if there is one that fits their interest.
Felix-Torres says, “There’s a chance you discover a college that is perfect for you, that you wouldn’t have otherwise known about if you hadn’t attended the college fair.”
Attending the fair gives a different experience that one wouldn’t be able to get by just doing research on colleges, being able to speak one on one with college reps.
Peer advisor Jocelyn Sandoval-Soto says, “Being able to ask people who went to the colleges or who represent them is an experience you wouldn’t get by just looking up the college online, you get to talk about their personal experiences at the college.”
The college fair was an event with high expectations, from students to the staff of the college and career center.
Felix- Torres says, “My hope as a peer advisor for the college fair is helping students figure out where they want to attend or at least get them thinking about it since pursuing further education is important.”
As college is important for many people, many were hoping for a good event, with helpful outcomes.
College and Career Center Secretary Mayra Fajardo says, “We don’t only hope for this event to run smoothly, but we also want many students to get an idea as to what is available for them outside of high school. There are so many options for a variety of people, we just wish for students to get as much as they can out of our event.”
Pursuing any sort of higher education, or a career in the future, is something that everyone should look into, and the college fair is the perfect opportunity to learn more about both options.
