Earlier this week on Tuesday, a federal judge, Loren L. Alikhan blocked Trump’s order to halt federal funding minutes before it was supposed to go into effect.
The Trump administration says that halting federal funding was to go over it to make sure that it complies with Trump’s new executive orders that he signed.
What does this mean for Americans?
The federal funding, mainly for federal aid, provides numerous amenities for Americans in need, such as section aid housing, food stamps, financial aid (mainly for school), public school districts, etc. Freezing the funding on this would halt funds for numerous Americans in need, public schools, and more facilities that rely on federal funding.
Judge Alikhan blocking this order provided a feeling of relief for Americans. The order to block this was prompted by a lawsuit from a nonprofit organization that receives federal funding.
However, this block is only temporary and on Monday, is expected to have another hearing to see if it would go back into effect.
Due to this, attorney generals from 22 states (including California) and Washington D.C. are all suing the Trump administration to block this order entirely as they feel that Trump should not be able to make this order by himself.
