The College and Career Center is a pivotal part of El Rancho High school that usually goes unnoticed by the student body. Whether you’re unsure about your future plans or already have a clear career path in mind, visiting the CCC can provide essential guidance and opportunities.
The CCC has a lot of options when it comes to helping students explore their options. College counselor Delia Arriola says, “A good percentage of students don’t know whether they want to go to school or they want to go into a trade, so for seniors this should definitely be a hub for them, a place for them to constantly be coming in and out for help.”
Exploring different opportunities ensures that students make informed decisions about their futures.
The CCC can help you find scholarships, grants, and financial aid opportunities. “Aside from helping students with college applications, we’re also here to help them when the time for financial aid letters comes out,” says Arriola, “The financial aid letters are some of the most confusing aspects of getting accepted into a university, and we’re here to help.”
Although the College and Career Center seems like it is primarily for the seniors, there is a lot to learn from the center as an underclassmen. Alongside college applications and financial aid, the CCC helps students find jobs, helps with dual enrollment, and other programs.
For students looking to gain work experience, Arriola states, “For the other grades, services we provide for them are work permits! We know a lot of students are looking for jobs and we can guide them on the process of the work permit.” Centers like the CCC often have connections to local businesses, internship programs, and even summer jobs.
