El Rancho High School’s color guard recently won first place in a competition, marking an improvement from their previous second-place finish. Competing against teams from various schools, they demonstrated skill, teamwork, and dedication to secure the top spot.
One team member continued to perform despite an injury, showing determination and commitment to the team’s success. While details about the injury remain private, the student’s perspective on the experience provides insight into the team’s mindset:
“Before we performed I was nervous because as we were performing I was just focused on the moves and making sure I was on time. Once we were done I felt upset because I felt like I could’ve performed better, and most of the guard felt like they could’ve performed more,” said Samantha Real Calderon. “Once we were at the award I felt like we were going to get 5th or 6th place but we were all shocked when we ended up getting 1st. Overall even though we thought we didn’t do the best, it wasn’t as bad as we thought. Plus we got to see our coach perform so that was fun”- Samantha Real Calderon.
After the event, the team showed a strong feeling of unity and accomplishment, celebrating their victory together. Their hard work and dedication were clear in both their performance and their camaraderie.
Support for the color guard team is encouraged as they continue their season. Their recent success highlights their progress and commitment to excellence.
