A tornado struck a neighborhood in Pico Rivera (which lasted for about 2 minutes) with 85 MPH winds at around 3:15 AM on Thursday March 13th.
The tornado damaged roof tops on homes and damaged trees, causing them to collapse onto cars and houses during the event.
The EFO tornado that was confirmed by NOAA was confirmed to be one of the rarest times Southern California has been hit by a tornado. But also one of the 5 tornadoes hit in recent years from the previous 4 tornadoes back in 2023 and hit Montebello, Compton, Compton Airport, and Cerritos.
Some students at El Rancho High School reported hearing the powerful wind gusts against their windows throughout the night.
Workers responded to the scene (and as of March 14th, during the morning, they are still working) to clear up the debris left on the road and to remove the fallen tree branches left in the neighborhood.
