On April 4, President Donald Trump announced that the deadline for TikTok has been pushed for another 75 days.
The deadline was originally supposed to be on April 5th, from the first extension that was ordered on January 18th.
This gives the Chinese company ByteDance that owns the TikTok app, more time to sell the app to an American company before the due date. If not, TikTok will be banned on app stores in the United States.
The deal to sell the app started after national security fears of a Chinese company controlling the data of Americans. Congress ended up passing a bill a year ago to ban the the app.
Since President Donald Trump was elected, he has promised to work his way to keep TikTok in the United States.
According to President Trump, there are many companies that are interested in buying the app.
The app has been the dominating social media app for years and since the bill was passed to ban it, it sparked fears for Americans losing their connection they have with the app and fear for the content they have made or watched.
