Big news Dons, after a ton of hard work, the new upgrades at El Rancho High School are officially finished!
The school hosted a grand opening on April 21 to celebrate the brand new Don Memorial Stadium, along with three new sports fields and a huge aquatic center. The event brought together students, staff, and the Pico Rivera community to check out all the exciting updates at 6501 Passons Blvd.
Superintendent Marco Villegas said the project is all about giving students and the community new spaces to stay active, come together, and show off their school pride.
“We’re proud to give our students and community places that inspire achievement, unity, and school spirit for years to come,” Villegas says.
Here’s a quick look at what’s new: fresh turf, lighting, and bleachers at the stadium, upgraded baseball, softball, and multi-use sports fields, a brand-new 33-meter pool with locker rooms, spectator seating, alongside a digital scoreboard, new team rooms, locker rooms, weight room, training room, concession stands, and coaches’ offices, plus new scoreboards, sound systems, lighting, and more!
The grand opening wasn’t the only good news for the district. Recently, North Park Academy of the Arts was recognized as a School to Watch by Sen. Bob Archuleta. It joins STEAM Academy of the Arts (named in 2023) and Rivera Middle School (recognized earlier this year) as some of the top schools in California known for creating great and supportive learning environments.
El Rancho students and families now have some of the best athletic and recreational facilities in the area — and you’ll be able to see them in action soon!
