With AP and IB exams coming up soon, taking time to take care of yourself before walking into the testing room is important. Here are some ways you can take care of yourself mentally and physically before the exams.
1.Study Early
It’s really important to get a head start on grasping the knowledge of specific topics that will be covered on the test. Do this by taking Cornell notes, practicing with flashcards, and taking practice quizzes to make sure you are prepared to answer and given specific details on the test. Studying within a group of peers will also benefit you as you receive extra help.
2. Study sample questions
With the help of the official AP and IB testing samples available online, students will be more prepared for the kind of questions that will be asked on the test. With IB testing, students reviewing the paper rubrics can help them determine areas of strength and weakness.
3. Practice managing your time
As the exams each have a specific amount of time to complete, it’s important for students to be prepared and manage their time wisely. With answering numerous FRQs and multiple choice questions, it’s necessary to complete all sections given on the exam within the time limits. This also comes hand in hand with studying sample questions, as students will already know how to handle the time limits more precisely.
4. Receive help from Teachers
Being able to talk and asking for the teacher’s assistance can be a crucial part of doing your best on these exams. With their help, you will be able to see the topics you have strengths and weaknesses in, and even work on fixing those issues before the exam. Make sure weaknesses become your strengths!
5. Take Care of Yourself
On top of everything, it is vital that students take a few days before the day of exams to take care of themselves. For example, students should be getting 8 hours of sleep so their body feels fully rested and no burnout will occur. Furthermore, eating a healthy meal and staying hydrated will only benefit your performance on the exam.
Wishing all students good luck on all their upcoming exams!
