El Rancho High School officials are alerting students and families about a dangerous new trend circulating on social media, especially TikTok. The trend involves individuals or students attempting to set school-issued Chromebooks on fire, which is a reckless act that poses serious risks to personal safety and property.
In a message to the school community, administrators emphasized that this behavior is not only hazardous but will also result in severe disciplinary action on campus. Legal consequences, including possible charges for vandalism, property damage, and endangerment, may also follow.
“The safety and well-being of our students are our top priority,” the message read.
School officials are asking parents and guardians to talk with their children about the risks of participating in harmful online trends and to encourage responsible decision-making.
Anyone who witnesses or hears about involvement in this activity is urged to report it immediately. The school reminds students and families to “See something, say something” by contacting the Text-a-Tip line at (844) 405-2474.
