Support El Rancho’s VAPA Programs by attending the Spring concert on May 20th! Tickets are $5, or $20 for families (bring more people for a good deal!)
The concert will start at 7:00 in the new gym with the Concert Choir and String Orchestra, followed by a brief intermission, and concluding with the Jazz Band and Concert/Marching Band.
Mr. John Rush, the head of the music department at El Rancho, will present the groups to perform music pieces they have been preparing all semester long.
The Concert Choir will perform “I See The Light” by Alan Menken and Glen Slater (arr. by Mac Huff), “Feeling Good” by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley (arr. by Roger Emerson), and “Hey Jude” by John Lennon and Paul McCartney (arr. By Mark Brymer).
Jazz Combo will perform “4 on 6” by John West Montgomery (arr. by Mark Taylor), “The Nearness of You” by Hoagy Carmichael (arr. by Frank Mantooth), “All Blues” by Miles Davis (arr. by Frank Mantooth) and Salsa Caliente, written by Mike Steinel.
Marching/Concert Band will perform “Music from Wicked” by Stephen Schwartz (arr. by Michael Sweeney), “How to Train Your Dragon” by John Powell (arr. by Sean O’Loughlin), and “Beauty and the Beast” by Alan Menken (arr. by Jay Bocook).
Last but certainly not least, the String Orchestra will perform “Dragon Hunter” by Richard Meyer, “Dragon’s Flight” by Darren W. Jenkins, and “Dragon Slayer” by Rob Grice.
