Angel Carbajal, a dedicated senior taking AP Art, is asked a series of questions through the journey of Mr. Diaz’s Art class. We dig deep into his achievements and struggles in this class while he gives tips for upcoming students taking this class.
What are your biggest challenges in the class, and would you recommend it to other students?
“My biggest challenges are deadlines and the speed of my work. I can do my work, but I think about how long it will take just because I want it to look perfect, but that can be a weakness, for it leaves me with very little time to do many other artworks, it makes me less efficient and I end up not being able to complete a lot of pieces.”
Angel advises other students to be efficient and patient, “..make sure to use all the time you have wisely, set up a realistic timeframe for yourself and measure how much work you’re doing everyday, you need to meet a quota at times so make sure you’re doing everything you can to complete it.”
What was the biggest struggle you had in the class?
“Definitely my quantity of work and efficiency of it, at times I would’ve done way more to help myself complete works faster, but I didn’t so that’s a weakness of mine, my quality of work is great but If i don’t have enough only a few to show then it’s not really great point to be at.”
Angel will pursue art after high school, he wants to go to Cal State Fullerton and get a bachelor’s degree in fine arts, specifically studio art. He has always enjoyed doing traditional media of art. He has been doing art for years now, and ever since he was a little kid. It is something he enjoys with all his soul.
“I love to develop my skills and become a great artist in time, and school isn’t something for me to limit myself with art because I honestly think I can pursue it after high school in many different ways, and I hope it can give me lots of opportunities in life.”
Best of luck, Angel, and congrats on all of your achievements. Thank you for your tips!
