The Los Angeles Dodgers started their series against the Cincinnati Reds by dominating them with a 10-5 victory in game 1.
In game 1, the Dodgers came out with a 10-5 win against the Reds. In Game 1, the Dodgers came out to swing first, delivering 5 home runs. Shohei Ohtani delivered an amazing performance by launching the lead home run with a 117.7 mph line drive during the first inning. Teoscar Hernandez kept up with Ohtani in the third inning with a three-run home run, sending the ball into the stands and leading the Dodgers into a 4-0 lead.
Tommy Edman immediately followed up Teoscar’s home run with a solo run, bringing the Dodgers to 5-0 with a back-to-back home run. Carrying on into the 5th inning, Hernandez hit his second home run of the game, bringing the lead to 6-0. In the 5th, Ohtani finished off his performance by delivering a 454-foot two-run home run, bringing the Dodgers to 8-0. During the final innings, the Reds picked up their game as they were able to bring up the score to 10-5 in the end but fell short as Blake Snell pitched for 7 innings, collecting 9 strikeouts, dominating the game, and keeping the Dodgers in the lead.
Into game 2, the Reds started off quick. Hernandez fumbled a flyball at the top of the 1st inning, allowing Sal Stewart from the Reds to come in and score a two-run single, giving the Reds a 2-0 lead. Into the third inning, the Dodgers put themselves up on the board with Mookie Betts driving in an RBI single, bringing the score to 2-1. Following the third, the Dodgers took the lead in the fourth with Kike Hernandez delivering an RBI double to bring the game to 2-2, with Miguel Rojas following up with a single to bring the game to 3-2.
In the bottom of the 6th, Ohtani delivered a single, bringing the game to 4-2, with Mookie Betts following with a double RBI to take the lead 5-2. Teoscar Hernandez capped it off with a two-run double, bringing the game to 7-2. Heading into the bottom of the 7th inning, Betts was able to double, allowing Rojas to score and lead 8-2. Going into the 8th, Stewart from the Reds landed an RBI single, followed by Tyler Stephenson with a sacrifice fly, bringing the final score to 8-4.
With these 2 back-to-back victories for the Dodgers, they defeat the Reds in the wildcard match and look forward to carrying their performance into their next game against the Philadelphia Phillies.
