If the United States Supreme Court succeeds in overturning the historic 1973 Roe v. Wade case, which legalized abortion nationwide, the country will swiftly be divided into states that allow abortion and those that do not.

Some states had been preparing for the possibility of the Supreme Court weakening or overturning Roe. However, the surprise release of the draft opinion on Tuesday appeared to speed that process, putting the country on track for an even more chaotic setting of abortion rights and new struggles over other reproductive rights, even before the court delivers a ruling.

Whether or not women should have the right to an abortion is a topic of conversation that will always be controversial.

The Supreme Court decision on Roe v Wade on the basis of a constitutional right to privacy. That’s something we’re losing sight of. Overturning it also overturns your right to be free of government intrusion.

 But this is America, right?

So stripping away the right to choose is patriotic?

The current nation we live in is not practicing what they preach.

If I put it into perspective maybe we can all understand it even if you don’t have a uterus.

In a country with the highest maternal mortality and without access to paid leave, healthcare, and childcare is now  implying forced birth

This is not about babies. It’s about destroying what Roe v Wade established the ability to choose and access safe abortions.

Women in this country will always be overlooked, unappreciated, and underpaid. As a country, we shall not let this pass. We will not fail future generations of women and their choice to do whatever they please with their bodies.

If you don’t listen to me, take it from the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

“The decision whether or not to bear a child is central to a woman’s life, to her well-being and dignity. It is a decision she must make for herself. When the government controls that decision for her, she is being treated as less than a full adult human responsible for her own choices”

-Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Only two years ago we had to go into lockdown and wear masks yet we heard people acting like they were stripped of their right to choose not to wear a mask. They went into stores and hospitals preaching ‘my body my choice’ or ‘ this is America’.

I guess it’s only ‘my body my choice’ when talking about masks and vaccines.

But seriously, women should get to decide for themselves. Not based on what some other people believe in.

No law will stop abortion.

This is seriously a sign to get out and vote for people who really represent you and your beliefs. I will still believe in this country and its democracy and rely on it not to fail me or anyone who has a uterus. This has an impact on women who will die as a result of forced pregnancies. it affects children born to moms who didn’t want to be moms.

The Supreme Court’s removal of women’s reproductive rights only days before Mother’s Day is extremely disturbing. It conveys the clearest message possible that a woman’s main purpose in this country is to be a mother, even if it is forced upon her, even if it kills her.

The only person who has any rights to the womb is the owner of the womb, you owe the government no explanation as to why you had an abortion. EVER.
