Hocus Pocus 2: A sequel worth watching
October 14, 2022
A Halloween-time classic has made its way back to our screens. Hocus Pocus 2, the sequel to Hocus Pocus which was released in 1993, is now on Disney Plus for all long-time fans to watch. This classic film that many kids in the 90s and 2000s grew up on get to experience that same nostalgic childhood feel all over again–now allowing many kids of today to have the same experience.
Hocus Pocus 2 was released on September 30, 2022, just 25 years after the first movie was released. The town of Salem, where the film takes place has now evolved since when it was last seen on our screens. With Hocus Pocus 2 having a different director from the original, of course, comes the change in the production and execution.
Since there is a different director for Hocus Pocus 2, Anne Fletcher, there also comes a signature touch. Each film director puts their own spin on their project and originality. Due to the first and second films having different directors you can expect a shift in delivery.
Additionally, a change in times comes with a change in technology and one should have that in mind before watching the film. The technology used, wardrobe, and slang have all evolved with the times and one should not expect the sequel to be the exact same because an original film with so much popularity cannot be duplicated; one should not feel unenthusiastic about that, but should instead welcome it.
Like any sequel, there is a different storyline, the main characters–the Sanderson sisters–still star in the film. The film is humorous, enjoyable, and has an interesting plot. Just like in the original film the sisters still sing and are up to their usual shenanigans.
Hocus Pocus 2 is worth the watch and for a sequel, it is almost as enjoyable as the first–and still gives the Halloween vibes that many of us love.
