Christmas classics to read over break

When Christmas time comes, you might wonder what you can read to get into the Christmas spirit. From typical Christmas joy to romance to action-packed novels, there are so many you can choose from. Here are some options you may be interested in:

 

  1. A Christmas Carol – Charles Dickens

This book would be great for people who prefer a classic Christmas tale. It is a ghost story about the life of Ebenezer Scrooge, an old man who is greeted by the spirits of the past, present, and future. He does not like Christmas, and the story’s purpose is to try to convince him to show a liking for it after visiting many different times in his life.

 

2. In a Holidaze – Christina Lauren

If you love romance novels, this is the book for you. Based on the life of the fictional character Maelyn Jones, the story involves her being trapped in a strange time loop. She explores the same day over and over again until she can figure out how to break free. It includes a love interest throughout the book and shares their story together until she can finally escape the hilarious predicament she finds herself in.

 

3. How the Grinch Stole Christmas – Dr. Seuss 

If you have siblings or young cousins, you can read this fun children’s book with them. It revolves around the Grinch, a man who hates people and Christmas, as he tries to steal away Christmas from everybody. It is great to help the imaginations of young children and is an easy read, being a great learning tool.

 

4. The Usual Santas – Peter Lovesey

This is a novel based on mystery and crime. It is filled with twists and turns and unexpected scenarios that will leave you shocked. It is based on multiple different people including a woman who receives a mysterious invitation to Christmas dinner with a complete stranger. Sherlock Holmes is also involved in this story, with many other characters. If you get bored of stories quickly, this may be a great pick for you since it is always switching it up!

 

Any of these books may be great options for you. With a wide variety, you might find a liking to a genre you never thought of reading before or might find yourself enjoying books similar to these as well.
