Die For This new song collaboration between Ariana Grande and The Weeknd

On February 21, 2023, the Weeknd and Ariana Grande teased fans on social media, revealing the remix of the 2016 Starboy hit, “Die For You”. This would be their 4th collaboration together. With the song’s popularity, many were excited and eager to listen, with fans of both artists talking about it constantly.
In Ariana’s post about it, she included the new lyrics that she wrote for the remix of the song. Many people quickly caught on to this and found her added lyrics to be a great addition to the song. She even mentioned in a TikTok that she spent 14 hours writing and recording the verse for the song.
The song was released to the public on February 24, 2023, quickly getting many streams. People could not stop talking about it all over social media and it became sensational. It now has over 1 billion streams on Spotify alone.
This is not surprising since their other collabs consist of, “Love Me Harder”, “Off The Table”, and the remix “Save Your Tears”, all being very well-known songs.
The song is about Abel’s love and devotion for another even though their relationship may be having issues. He continues to say that it can be difficult to talk it out but that he would do anything for his significant other, including dying for them. It also hints at the fear of loneliness and missing the relationship previously formed.
The main difference between the original song and the remix is Ariana’s new verse and vocals. Although this may not be too much of a change, it shows a new perspective to the audience, hinting that she blames Abel for the feelings she has acquired even though he does not want her to blame him.
Overall, fans seem to be very happy with the song and although it is only slightly different, they see it to have much new meaning and love the collaboration.
