The Start of Construction at The Ranch

At The Ranch

As the 2023-2024 school year started, we saw that renovation started. All of El Rancho was supposed to be knocked down and have a new look. With the B and C buildings being knocked down in 2019, there were many questions surrounding the start of construction to restore not only the B and C buildings but also the pool and football field that was said to be demolished.

Construction officially started on July 5, 2023, and is said to be done on April 22, 2025. There has already been temporary fencing installed around the quad, soccer field, baseball field, and football field. The fencing was installed so the workers can have privacy and students are not watching to see what they are doing step by step. Many of the students and parents are curious as to if the project will be completed on the estimated date, May 20, or 25.

We asked some students if they thought that the school would be able to finish the project on time and they said, “No.” We followed up the question by asking if they thought they would have the money to finish construction and by surprise, they said, “No.” One student even went as far as to say, “I want to know where their lost money went.”

Students have this belief that the school will not do what they said due to what has happened before with them saying we are going to get a new school and that never happened. We students do not know the reason behind that but we just assume.

Besides the questioning, the layout and AI made photos of the football field, soccer field, and pool look quite nice but maybe a little too nice. “The school is focusing on building us nicer things instead of fixing the problems that already exist on campus such as floors in classrooms, roofs, and the terrible food.”

It’s been about 4 years since the destruction of the B and C building, and it’s only been a couple of months since the start of the construction so hopefully we’ll be able to see the blueprints come to life in May of 2025.
