Punch the Monkey is a Japanese macaque at Ichikawa City Zoo in Chiba he was born July 26, 2025 and is currently 7 months old. 

Punch the Monkey had been abandoned by his mother when he was first born and the zoo keepers had to step in to nurse and raise him. To ease his loneliness and help with his anxiety, staff members had given him a stuffed monkey plush from Ikea. 

This has sparked interest in netizens. Fans from throughout the world have come to Japan to visit Punch at Ichikawa City Zoo. Punch has warmed the hearts of many people where even Japan’s ceo of Ikea has donated more plushies for Punch and the Ikea in Spain has changed the advertising on the plush monkey to feature Punch in the marketing.

Despite Punch being so loved by netizens around the world his other macaque companions have a hard time getting along with him. In a recent video circulating the media Punch was seen getting dragged and attacked by another older macaque. Which left his followers devastated. 

Punch has been seen recently befriending other monkeys which includes sitting with the adults and receiving hugs. Even though other monkeys may not like him and want to intimidate him he is now finally making progress and making friends.
