The Los Angeles Dodgers are headed to the World Series. They faced the New York Mets in Game 6. The Dodgers won the game 5 to 10, winning them their 25th National League Championship Series title and securing their spot in the World Series. The Dodgers will now face the New York Yankees, winners of the American League Championship, on Friday, October 24.
The last time the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees faced each other in the World Series was 43 years ago, in 1981. The Los Angeles Dodgers’ last World Series win was in 2020, “the pandemic season,” when they faced the Tampa Bay Rays. It has been 15 years since the New York Yankees won their last World Series title against the Philadelphia Phillies in 2009.
“It’s the place that I’ve dreamt of playing all my life, and to be able to finally come to this stage and be able to play and hopefully win it is my next goal,” said Shohei Ohtani, Dodgers pitcher and designated hitter.
This is Shohei Ohtani’s first time playing in the World Series. He is one of the Dodgers top players. This is a big moment in Ohtani’s career; he has worked hard and has been a long time coming after the many amazing achievements he has accomplished in his 7 seasons of playing professional baseball.
“It sounds fun, they’re obviously a good club; we obviously are, too. I think the world wanted to see this. It’s going to be fun. It’s good for baseball. It’s going to be fun,” said Mookie Betts, Dodgers outfielder.
Just like Ohtani, Mookie Betts has worked hard to get to this point, especially with his ups and downs this season. Just like Betts said, this is going to be a very fun and interesting World Series matchup.
