A senior at El Rancho High School, Rene Gomez is getting ready for a big next step in his life. He has earned a full ride scholarship to the University of Notre Dame, where he plans to major in engineering. This is a huge accomplishment and shows how much hard work and focus he has put into school over the years. Rene has always been known as a dedicated student who takes his education seriously.
At El Rancho, Rene has been involved in many activities that show both his intelligence and commitment. He is a member of the Academic Decathlon team, where students compete in subjects like math, science, and literature. In 2026, the team competed strongly at the regional level, and Rene stood out for his math and science scores. He also participates in track and field, where he throws discus, balancing both academics and athletics at a high level.
Rene’s friends and classmates have a lot of respect for him and what he has achieved. Sebastian Medina said, “I’m really proud of my guy Rene, he’s worked really hard for this opportunity to pursue his dreams.” Andrew Olague also shared his thoughts, saying, “Rene is one of the smartest people I’ve ever met, I was not surprised that he got a full ride scholarship to a very good school.” Their words show how much Rene’s effort and character have made an impact on the people around him.
Outside of school, Rene enjoys spending time with his friends and keeping things simple. He loves eating pizza, hanging out, and working on math problems, which has always been one of his favorite subjects. As he prepares to head to Notre Dame, Rene is excited for what the future holds. With his strong work ethic and passion for learning, he is ready to take on new challenges and continue chasing his dreams.
