The El Rancho High School Boys Soccer Team had a strong season with a 14-5-1 record before the playoffs. They went 8-0 in league play and scored 43 goals while giving up 24, showing a lot of balance on both offense and defense during the regular season.
In the first round of the 2026 CIF Division 3 playoffs, El Rancho faced the Los Altos High School Boys Soccer Team Conquerors on Wednesday, Feb. 11. Los Altos came into the match with a 14-6-2 record, and they were strong that day. The Conquerors scored two goals and kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over El Rancho, ending the Dons’ playoff season at home.
The loss was hard for El Rancho after a very good season. The Dons had built an eight-game winning streak before the playoff match, including big wins like 3-0 over Whittier and 2-0 on the road against California. Student Brian Gonzalez said after the game, It was a tough game from the start to finish.” The team showed heart all season and made a lot of fans proud with how hard they played.
Even though the season ended sooner than they hoped, the players learned a lot from their wins and losses. Seniors and underclassmen worked together to get far into the playoffs. Many will be back next year, ready to try again and chase more victories after the 2026 CIF run.
