The El Rancho High School boys’ tennis team has opened the season with a strong 3–2 record, showing early promise on the court. With a mix of experienced players and developing talent, the Dons have been competitive in both singles and doubles matches. The team’s early performances suggest that their season could go pretty well.
In singles play, several players have stood out with strong rankings and consistent performances. Adrian Molina currently holds the number one spot for singles, while Kenny Huynh holds the number 2 spot with a 31.07 WTN rating. Luis Flores has also contributed with a singles rating of 30.76, helping to anchor the team’s singles lineup. Other players like Isaac Lopez (29.51) and Ezekiel Mejia (29.95) have also helped provide depth, giving the Dons multiple competitive options in singles matches.
Doubles has also been a key factor in the team’s early success. Alexander Vasquez leads the team in doubles with a 29.95 rating, while Saul Montano Casillas (29.07) and Alexander Garcia (28.85) have also shown strong potential as partners on the court. Players like Diego Morales (28.43), Luis Flores (27.74), and Nathan Calvillo (27.73) continue to contribute depth, helping the team remain competitive in doubles sets that often decide close matches.
I took the chance to interview Alexander Vasquez, Diego Morales, and Adrian Molina. Alexander stated, “The team is looking solid so far. We have many new players that are growing day by day.” Diego Morales said, “The seniors on this team are truly amazing, and we are trying our best to grow the new players’ talent.” Adrian had some kind words about the juniors on the team, saying, “We are aware that the seniors will not be on the team next season, and we are trying our best to develop ourselves and the younger players on the team.”
With solid rankings across the roster and contributions from many players, El Rancho’s 3–2 start reflects a balanced and hardworking team. As the season continues, the Dons will look to build on their early momentum and continue improving their play in both singles and doubles. If the team keeps developing its chemistry and consistency, El Rancho could turn its strong start into a successful season.
