The El Rancho Dons girls soccer team had a strong season in 2025-26 heading into the CIF Round 2 playoffs. El Rancho finished the season with a 12-5-3 record, showing they won most of their games and scored more goals than they allowed. The team scored 50 goals and only let in 15 goals all season, giving them a good goal difference and confidence going into the playoffs. Their record shows they had a 3-game winning streak before Round 2.
El Rancho’s success was helped by several key players, especially Sofia Sanchez, who led the team with 10 goals and was also among the top in assists and shots. Freshman goalkeeper Reyna Conde had a strong goals against average (GAA) of 0.525, meaning she allowed very few goals per game. These stats from MaxPreps show that both offense and defense were important parts of El Rancho’s season.
In Round 2 of the CIF playoffs, El Rancho played a tough match against Alemany High School. El Rancho fought hard, but Alemany won the game 3-2. This close score showed that El Rancho competed well until the end, even though they did not move on to the next round. Despite the loss, the team showed effort and heart against solid competition.
Overall, El Rancho’s season was one of growth and hard work. The team played many strong opponents, used great teamwork, and finished with more wins than losses. Even though their playoff run ended in Round 2, the Dons can be proud of a season with many goals, strong defense, and great effort from their players.
