The El Rancho Dons opened their baseball season with a strong performance at home against the Magnolia Sentinels on February 18, 2026. El Rancho won the game 7-0, shutting out Magnolia in front of a big crowd. The Dons scored runs in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to build a comfortable lead. Magnolia was held hitless for most of the game and could not put any runs on the board.
El Rancho’s pitching was outstanding in the season opener. Alex Aparcio led the way on the mound, going five innings without giving up an earned run. He struck out six batters and allowed only two hits. David Gonzalez came in to pitch one scoreless inning as well. Together, the team held Magnolia to just three hits in the whole game.
At the plate, El Rancho had several players step up. Leo Segovia went 2-for-3 with a double and stole a base while Athan Rodriguez also had a hit and stole three bases. Jacob Martinez drove in two runs with his hitting. Overall, El Rancho finished with nine hits in the game and a team batting average of .310 for the day.
The win improves El Rancho’s record to 1-0 while Magnolia drops to 0-1 to begin their season. The Dons will look to keep the momentum going in their next game at home against Artesia. Magnolia will try to bounce back when they play Bolsa Grande later in the week.
