The most wanted drug lord in the world, El Mencho, whose real name was Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, was just killed, according to many reports, in a conflict military operation
In Jalisco, Mexico. El Mencho was considered by many as one of the most wanted men in the world with a $15 million reward by the U.S. before his death. EL Mecho was the head of the most dangerous cartel organization in Mexico (CJNG), which stands for Jalisco New Generation Cartel.
EL Menchos Cartel was responsible for hundreds and hundreds of thousands of deaths across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Due to his massive production of drug trafficking, including cocaine and Fentanyl.
The operation that resulted in his death allegedly included Mexican special forces, as well as intelligence from the U.S. that allowed them to track his movements. Following a clash with security forces, he was killed.
Although his death is a significant victory for the authorities, it has been noted that the disbandment of a cartel of this magnitude is a complicated process. The CJNG could break up into rival factions or continue operating with new leadership.
