Daylight Saving Time is when the clocks move forward one hour in the spring and back in the fall. It was created to help people use more daylight in the evening and to save energy.
It first started during World War I and was used again in World War II to reduce electricity usage. The idea was brought up by Benjamin Franklin, but the one who was really credited was William Willet. Benjamin Franklin wanted to change for how many hours people sleep, while William Willet wanted to advance the clocks.
Even though many people think it isn’t necessary anymore, many places still use Daylight Saving Time today. It helps give people more daylight after school or work.
