Yu-me is the newest installment in Pico Rivera. Replacing the Sizzler that was once there. It opened December 11th, 2023 at 6730 Rosemead Blvd, Pico Rivera California.
Yu-me is a Japanese fusion restaurant. But I’d like to think it’s traditional Japanese food. From ramen, and sushi, to even bento boxes they have it all.
A few friends and I went to Yu-me last week to check what all the hype was about. And I’ll say it now, it was worth it.
As soon as you walk in you’re greeted with a host asking where you would like to sit, from either the bar, booth, or table. The choice is up to you. And just by taking a few steps the interior design is beautiful.
The table is a nice dark wooden color and perfectly clean. Set with chopsticks, plates, sauce dishes, soy sauce, and even a small dish with wasabi and ginger. And menus of course.
Their menu is big with a lot of variety. Appetizers, desserts, rolls, sashimi, teriyaki, soups, salads, and drinks (alcoholic or nonalcoholic).
I had a troubling time trying to figure out what roll I wanted because there were so many good-looking rolls. And I didn’t want to miss out on the perfect options.
So I went with the Alaskan roll. It is pretty basic with rice, cucumber, and crab topped with salmon and avocado. Let me tell you that roll was amazing. Everything was fresh to order.
A fellow peer at El Rancho Isaiah Gonzales had ordered the bulgogi hot plate. The hotplate had rice, bulgogi (a type of meat), green onions, sesame seeds, onions, garlic, mushrooms, and some cut seaweed as topping. And he said this about it.
“The fiery hot pot was immaculate, especially with this white rice. The food was all nice and hot with the tenderness and textures.”
Another peer at El Rancho Adam Antuna had ordered the beef teriyaki bowl. The bowl had rice, peas, corn, beef, and a drizzle of teriyaki sauce. Adam said this about his bowl.
“They served it with plenty of meat with a nice umami taste. Everything had paired well with one another. I enjoyed it a lot.”
Overall the experience was worth it. Very welcoming, waiters/waitresses were polite, quick service, and decently priced. And yes, I do recommend that you try Yu-me. It’s an experience you don’t want to miss out on.
