Phones are also important for safety and communication. If there is an emergency, students can contact their parents quickly. Parents also feel better knowing they can reach their child during the day. After school, phones help students coordinate rides, activities, or changes in plans.

Instead of banning phones, schools could create rules for using them properly. For example, phones can be put away during lessons but allowed during breaks or for schoolwork.
