Many schools today are thinking about banning phones. Some teachers say phones distract students from learning. Students might text, play games, or scroll social media instead of paying attention. Because of this, schools want to remove phones to help students focus more in class.
However, I hope phones do not get banned from schools. Phones can be very helpful for students. For example, students can use them to look up information quickly, use calculators, or check school apps. This can make learning faster and easier, especially when a student needs help right away.
Phones are also important for safety and communication. If there is an emergency, students can contact their parents quickly. Parents also feel better knowing they can reach their child during the day. After school, phones help students coordinate rides, activities, or changes in plans.
Instead of banning phones, schools could create rules for using them properly. For example, phones can be put away during lessons but allowed during breaks or for schoolwork. This way, students learn responsibility while still having the benefits of technology. Phones, when used the right way, can support learning instead of harming it.
