Last Friday’s PowderPuff game was one of the most competitive games our school has had in a long time. Both teams came on the field ready to win, and the energy from the crowd made it more exciting. Our teams have been practicing for this moment and have been on each other to make practice to win the games. Most of the girls that were on these teams have had experience in flag football, which made it more interesting.
During the game the junior/freshman had the ball first and the senior/sophomores stopped them to get the ball. It was going back and forth for a while, till the seniors/sophomores got the ball and their quarterback Melissa Perez ran 75-yards to score the first touchdown of the game. The seniors/sophomore went for two points but missed it. Then the juniors/freshman got the ball and they were making their way down, but they got stopped. For a while it went back and forth again till the juniors/freshman got the ball and did multiple run plays that got them many yards. They went for another run play and Analise Garcia got the ball and ran to score the second touchdown of the game to tie the game at 6-6. The juniors/freshman went for one extra point to get ahead of the seniors/sophomores. They hiked the ball to Sofia Lopez, she threw it behind her back towards the touchdown area and Amy Esqueda caught the ball, to make it 7-6 juniors/freshman.
The juniors/freshman won the game which was amazing but not for the senior/sophomores. It was a great, good game that everyone enjoyed and got competitive to win that game. The seniors/sophomores were very sad because this is the seniors last time playing. I do think we could have been much better, but junior/freshman got us. This PowderPuff game was one of the games you wouldn’t forget.
