Many students think late work should not be allowed at all, but I believe late work should sometimes be acceptable. Students are not robots. We have busy lives, families, sports, jobs, and other classes. Sometimes it is hard to finish everything on time. If a student turns in work a little late but still tries their best, they should not always get a zero.
Life can be stressful for students. Some students take care of younger brothers or sisters. Others work part-time jobs after school. There can also be family problems or health issues. These things can make it hard to meet a deadline. School should support students during hard times, not punish them right away.
Allowing late work can also help students learn responsibility in a better way. Instead of giving a zero, teachers can lower the grade a little. This still teaches students that deadlines matter, but it also gives them a chance to learn from their mistakes. The main goal of school is learning, not just following rules.
In my opinion, late work should be accepted with fair limits. Students should not turn in everything late, but they should have some chances. Teachers and students can work together to set clear rules. This way, students feel respected, and they can still succeed in school.
