The question of whether buses should be free is actually a big deal, especially for students like us. A lot of high schoolers depend on the bus to get to school, practice, or work, and paying every day can get expensive fast. If buses were free, it would take some pressure off families who are already dealing with high costs.

At the same time, buses aren’t free to operate. The city has to pay drivers, cover gas, and fix buses when they break down, so the money has to come from somewhere. Some people argue that making buses free would just mean higher taxes, and not everyone is okay with that.

Personally, I think buses should at least be free for students. We’re trying to get to school and jobs, not just ride around for fun, and transportation shouldn’t be the reason someone misses class. Free buses could help students be more responsible and independent while also helping the environment by getting more cars off the road.
