Since the recent release of the trailer for the upcoming film Spider-Man: Brand New Day, I have decided to do a ranking of all 10 Spider-Man films. I will not be including the Venom trilogy or Morbus because they don’t even have Spider-Man in them.
Number 10# The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
This movie goes in last place due to its very dark grimmy look and a repetitive storyline of Peter Parker getting bitten and getting a girl, and Uncle Ben dies. This movie sadly has a lot of boring parts, and the villain Lisard is not very interesting and does not look comic accurate. The Spider-Man suit is pretty bad, with yellow eyes and a weird type of blue that is not light blue like the comics. This movie is still ok at best. I rated it a 6/10. The best thing about this movie is the love romance between Gwen and Peter.
Number 9# Spider-Man 3 (2007)
This movie is hated by a lot of spidy fans, and they are all justified. This movie deals with a lot of cringe moments, like Toby’s bad acting while crying, the awkward dance, which most people call the evil dance. Too many villans the movie starts with Harry Osborn as Green Goblin trying to kill Peter, then it goes to Sand Man’s story of trying to provide money to his daughter who has cancer. Then, at the end of the movie, we get the horrible, skinny-looking, not comic-accurate Venom who only gets a screen time of less than 8 minutes. Good things about this movie are the action, and it’s still a Spider-Man film, and the cringe stuff may be bad, but looking back at it its impossible not to laugh at it with all the noticeable memes in this film. Overall, I would give this film a 6.5/10 at least its funny and not dark and depressing like TASMA 1 (The Amazing Spider-Man)
Number 8# Spider-Man Far From Home (2019
The problem I have with this movie is the idea of Spider-Man going to Europe. I have nothing against Europe; in fact, Europe is my favorite continent, but I want to stick to Spider-Man fighting in Queens, New York. Other than that, this movie is still pretty good with the great performance of Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio, and the fights were pretty fantastic with Mysterio’s Illusions. I would give this movie a solid 6.5/10. It’s just good, the only reason it’s at 9# is that I think the other movies are better.
Number7# The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014
This one may be a take that a lot would disagree with. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has a lot of bad lows but also great highs. First, the best thing about this movie is the comic-accurate Spider-Man suit, which looks amazing. The big white Spidy eyes, the big Spider on his chest, and the black webbing on his suit. Most people agree that it’s definitely in the conversation of the best comic suits of all time. The visuals are amazing best I’ve ever seen, and the swinging finally looks like Spider-Man. Once again, like TASMA 1 ( The Amazing Spider-Man) The romance between Gwen and Peter is amazing, great chemistry. But this movie does have its flaws, and it’s big. First, the unnecessary use of three villains is horrible. We get a weird version of the Rino where he’s a Russian Gangster, by the end of the movie hes in a bulky, boring Rino robotic suit. Electro’s weird backstory/motive and his weird blue design. The worst of them all, the new Green Goblin, who was ugly looking, no mask, Harry Osborn. This weird secret bus scene that Peter finds, where acording to the movie, he was already Spider-Man before he was bitten, making the story just way more confusing. Overall, the good things in this movie are beautiful, but sadly, the bad things make this movie a split between fans. Some people even rank this the worst Spider-Man movie. I would give this film a 6.7/10, wasted potential, but still watchable.
Number6# Spider-Man No Way Home (2021)
This one, I’m going to get a lot of hate, maybe even death threats, but I have Spider-Man: No Way Home at 6. So far, this list is getting into the place where all these movies are great, just others I think are better. This movie has a lot of good action and great returning roles, such as Doctor Octopus, played by Alfred Molina, and Green Goblin back played by Willem Dafoe. The other villains, such as Electro, played by Jamie Foxx, Sandman, played by Thomas Haden Church, and Lizard, played by Rhys Ifans. The movie also has a great emotional scene where Aunt May dies, and she finally says, “with great power come with great responsibility.”The best part of the film, of course, is the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man. The thought of seeing the three Spider-Men talking to each other was amazing, and them teaming up to fight these villains was great. The flaws of this movie may be that I’m just mad that social media spoiled it for me during 2021, but the movie feels too much like a fan demand film. I’m also not the only one who feels that Peter Parker is really stupid in this film, like he makes 20 bad decisions in this film. Overall, great movie with all the camos and action sequence I would rate this movie a 7/10.
