There are many students who are failing their classes or are doing rather poorly in performance, caused by absences or tardies. All those failing grades, like F’s and D’s, do not determine how a student is in terms of academics and their knowledge. The grades these students get just show the work they put in the class. It shows that they do care about the effort they put in to get them the higher grades, but it doesn’t necessarily mean they are immediately brighter or smarter than those who have a lower grade.
Some students I know around El Rancho are the nicest, smartest people I know. However, when it comes to their grades, they are on the lower side. That doesn’t mean that they are one of those students who break rules or aren’t willing to put in the effort.
What matters is not their grades, but what they have learned or accomplished throughout the year. Knowledge is not always displayed in grades. There are some students who get good grades that also break rules, don’t know how to respect their peers, and fail tests. There are many who don’t work enough to deserve their grade, and there are some who put in the effort to learn despite having low grades.
